I thought it would be nice to share a bit about the cruises we took together.  I shared about meeting on the Holland America Amsterdam. The honeymoon cruise began on a rough note. I got food poisoning eating one bite of the chicken dinner served on the plane. I was sick the balance of the flight and once we got to the Four Season in Sydney Bert had a doctor come run an IV. It was ironic I got sick because I had never been ill on a cruise. Bert insisted on taking insurance and I told him I’ve never had insurance and I thought it was unnecessary. I was ready to eat and enjoyed site seeing in Sydney. The jeweler in the hotel was exceptional and Bert bought a charm bracelet with a kangaroo charm. He told me his plan was to purchase charms on our travels so I could look back on our travels. We met kind people including an editor for Bon Appetite traveling with her young son. She shared great information about local cuisine. We then boarded the ship and set sail for New Zealand. We did ship tours including a wonderful train ride, a Lord of the Rings tour led by one of the actors who made a custom video for my daughter, and visited Bert’s sons ex-wife for a locals tour of her town.

We took the NCL Jade to the Mediterranean. After taking a  Regent Cruise it was a step down.  I remember the wonderful pizza we had in Naples. It was the cab drivers favorite place. We also had a memorable lunch at the yacht club in Athens. The cab driver and guide dined with us. We had calamari that was incredible, fish just off the boat, beautiful view and great discussion.

The RSSC Explorer was a family cruise from Miami. It was an incredible ship. I remember my daughter discovering lobster nachos shortly after boarding. Food was incredible, service was incredible, ship was incredible. My daughter and I went horseback riding down to a waterfall Christmas Day. We attended Hanukkah and Christmas dinners and both were good. Totally relaxing cruise.

The Celebrity Silhouette was a last minute decision and we went with my daughter and one of her law school friends. The food was good and the pool area was wonderful.  It was a Caribbean cruise.

We were sick of winter and booked the NCL Gem last minute to escape the cold. I won’t book a cruise out of NY again as to many days were wasted sailing to warm weather.
